4 CONTOURING TIPS FOR PATCHY BEARDS

The patchy beard is one of the main reasons why men tend to shave of their beards and go with the full shaved looks, which is a shame since most of the time a patchy beard can be fixed.

So what is a patchy beard? Can it be fixed? And most importantly how can we fix it? Those are the questions we are going to find answers for in this article.

The patchy beard is having some areas on your beard where hair doesn’t grow at all or does not grow as thick as the rest of your beard.

You have to make the difference between having a patchy beard and having hair loss on your beard, these are two separate conditions, a patchy beard is a beard you had since day one meaning that hair never grew in some area and that is normal and that’s the patchy beard, losing hair or having bold spots in your beard in areas where hair use to grow that is not normal and needs to be treated as soon as possible because it does spread and could affect other areas, there are actually plenty of conditions that causes hair loss on one’s beard the most known of them all is the “Alopecia areata” and I will make a different article about it later to help you treat it.

Back to the patchy beard, the first question that comes to mind is why do I have patchy beard when I have hair all over my body that looks just fine sometimes in places you would not think hair can grow in, it’s genetics my friends you just can’t have it all, I mean it depends on your origins and a lot of variants the same thing with every other aspect of the human body, some people are just too short or have small HANDS, some races are known for being hairy others for having curly hair others for having big HANDS, nutrition does have an effect too but mostly genetics are responsible for your beard status, some things are just the way they are I mean you’ll never going to see your Chinese friend lee with a full bushy beard, it’s just not going to happen.

The first thing you need to know is there is no magic medicine or  cure for patchy beard that is why I’m not going to be recommending or reviewing any products for this article, but still there is a few tips to cover for it.

Is your beard really patchy? Know your beard.

Most people complaining about patchy beard don’t actually have a patchy beard, yes you’ve read right there are some beards that just need time to grow into a full normal beard, kids just growing beards too are complaining, it’s normal when you are young to have patchy beard you’re not born with it give It time.

1 - Give your beard a chance

Your beard’s hair is not a commando or a Russian synchronized swimming team that moves in perfect timing, the speed of hair growth in some areas of your beard may differ from others, give your beard a chance to go to its full potential then we can talk about a patchy beard, so the first thing if you’ve never grew a beard give it 3 to 4 months to see how it goes and if the patchy areas get covered naturally or not. Note that if you are still in your 20’s it is normal to have patchy beard even if you have hair in other parts of your body like HANDS legs e…etc, beard hair may take more time and even for people with full normal beard it gets thicker with time.

2 – Keep it longer and bushy

If you had given your beard the chance to grow for 3 to 4 months and still look patchy, then you have to go for an alternative option, and yet again this differs from person to person but an even longer beard can cover itself with the long hair that hides the patchy areas, what I would recommend is using a brush to make it a little fluffy and give it volume so it covers the empty places, using a brush on your hair make it look bigger well it’s the same thing for your beard and going for a big bushy beard is your best solution actually.

3 – Go with shorter beard

We actually promote growing epic long beards but still better have a short nice looking beard than a big patchy one, cutting it short can and will hide the patchy areas and you can go with a “degradee” look (I will be doing some posts about different styles of beards that you can check out later) with hair going from short in the sides to long in the lips area it looks cool specially if you match it with a similar hair cut that gives it that full great style. There are actually plenty of great beard styles that will cover for a patchy beard that you can try.

4 – Give your beard some slack man

Did you know that most of the time if not very patchy it is only you that can even notice the patchy areas in your beard since you are focusing on it in front of a mirror, most people don’t even notice since no beard is perfect I repeat no beard is perfect it’s a 1 in a million guy that has the perfect beard like everything else and that guys may even shave it, don’t be obsessed with it is normal, I am the kind of guys that have a thick beard and still I got some patchy areas above the chick all I do is draw the chick line below that area, you could do the same thing and still have a great looking beard with different styles don’t be shy to try new styles you will eventually find what matches your face then stick with it.
